Ilse Gudiño
Flamenco dance
Ilse has trained in various disciplines and has a unique background in dance and movement. She started as a gymnast and briefly studied at the school of contemporary dance of the Ballet Nacional de Mexico and studied with La Compañia Estatal de Danza contemporánea in Oaxaca. She has been a member of the Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company since 1997 and studied flamenco at Amor de Dios studios in Madrid with Antonio Reyes, El Ciro, La Tati, Manolete, Domingo Ortega, Manuel Reyes and Manolo Marin studios in Seville with Manuel Betanzos, Juana Amaya, Andres Marín, Pilar Ortega, Ursula López, Alicia Marquez, Ramon Martinez, Juan de los Reyes, Alejandro Granados, Belen Maya, Angeles Gabaldon among others.

Since 1999, Ilse’s dance career has expanded as a soloist to include performances across Canada and the U.S. with contemporary dancers, experimental theatre, Opera, Independent music (Apostle of Hustle, Santerías), video and film. She is also creatively involved and performs as a dancer/musician with the Jorge Miguel Flamenco Ensemble. Ilse taught at the Academy of Spanish Dance for many years and now teaches flamenco workshops in various schools in Ontario and internationally. In 2007 Ilse spent half of the year in Seville for an intensive study period dancing with several masters and learning flamenco singing (cante) with internationally acclaimed Esperanza Fernández, daughter of El Curro Fernández. She also performed at the Tablao Patio Las Cruces while in Sevilla, Spain.
